Let's look at the following news items
"If Pepsi is banned in India, I would go to the US and drink it� - SRK in 2006. This shows that SRK is nothing but a money minded freak who'll do anything for big bucks.
"SRK was cleared in 66 minutes, say US officials". This shows the true picture of the incident and whatever happened was routine and nothing was intended to single out SRK.
"I was questioned for two hours"- SRK. This shows the dishonesty and exaggeration of the incident, which the actor feels has hurt his ego. It's like "Mommy! US has pinched me OOOOO"
"I don't feel like stepping on American soil any more, but it is the love and affection of millions of his fans in the US which would bring him to this country again and again." - SRK. It's like "I don't feel like eating Ice-cream anymore. But since you all fans want me to eat it, I'm gonna eat it again and again"
"Cabinet minister suggested a "tit-for-tat" policy toward Americans traveling to India". This shows that we don't have any brains of our own and a "tit-for-tat" policy is intended more as a revenge rather than a matter of national security.
"Angry fans in the northern city of Allahabad shouted anti-U.S. slogans and burned an American flag." This shows the ignorance, illiteracy and hero worship that's rampant in India.
"India to take SRK detention issue strongly with US ". This shows that the govt. of India has got no better things to do, but feels that VIP treatment to movie stars is more important than nation's security. Moreover SRK visit to US was purely personal to promote his film and has got nothing to do with govt. of India.

This is not "Indian" thread. It is purely a North Indian thread. He is popular only in North of India.
I doubt that he is popular in North India only.
VDL Rao is popular in North India despite hailing from AP.

In my understanding, they must apply any spill over to EB3 too. EB3 gets 28.6% of total quota (Including spill overs). If some one is sure that it is not the case, please correct me.
If spill over was already applied and if EB3 will not open up again, then EB3 already got its share of spill over and EB2 also used up some part of that spill over, so only part of that spill over is left for the 2 months.
If spill over is not applied yet, then EB3 should get 28.6% of what ever is spilled over to total EB quota. Hence EB3 should open up again.
Please note that I am not making this complex. I am only pointing at complexities.

I do send money because I have a dialysis patient at home for 6 years now. and at this time I don't want to point to the healthcare system at all, but my best wishes that you don't have to go there.
I do have properties and business properties in India from before I came to US. I don't want to make this personal by naming the IT businesses I sold but am sure if you are from 90's and from India you are aware of those names.
I am sold those one by one, and that is another line buddy. Capital Assets Line. IT Enquiry Lines, Company liquidation issues (specially if you were a LTD. company), Commerical Property Tribunals, Service Tax lines, State Tax Issues, Central Sales Tax issues. And god forbid if there is a lawsuit filed.
And yes I am in GC line for 8 years. This is the Last line hopefully other than immigration line at India every year. (which is painful for Indian Citizens) but easy for PIO's and Non Citizens.
You are good to be here and i'll pry for your GC line/wiait finish soon.
In future if you face any other line in US then please don't start blaming US....

Every freedom fighter is a terrorist first. We can get this from history. Do you know who killed
mahatma? Why? We can make a different argument. But there are differences between freedom fighters. But the ultimate goal is getting real freedom to the civilians who are fellow souls suffering from all kinds of issues from majority rulers.
Not a single way to solve our immigration issue here in USA and not just ImmigrationVoice is fighting. It applies to any freedom struggle. There are many different freedom fighters fight for the same people for the same case.
Guys look at Srilanka Tamil as Native Tamils from Srilanka and look what was done to them in the last 50 years from the beginning of Srilanka independence from British. Know the history and then make your point.
There is a large humanitarian crisis for Srilanka Tamil in northern Srilanka after the Srilanka military invasion and world is ignoring it.
I know nothing can be brought by killing people but only by peace and democratic and diplomatic approach can bring peace. Peace and Pray for all fallen freedom fighters in the world. Peace and NO WAR.

I think we are trying to come up with too much details.
I would suggest putting together a short message, with links to detailed news reports, press releases etc.
But something short and catchy that captures the essence of what happened. And says that it hurt people.
And please, when you come up with a draft for lawmakers, do mention that their response would be shared with others in the employmentbased community through online public forums.

Well Said - I feel that this discussion is counterproductive. In my opinion (I am no lawyer but I feel strongly about this), there is no constitutional remedy available. The only accomplishment may be that we alienate non-Indian members.
I know what I am about to say will trigger a lot of reaction and some resentment, but it has to be said on behalf of those who are not Indian. I think the per country limit is to ensure that people of all nationalities and races have an equal opportunity to obtain a green card and to ensure that no one nationality, group, or even sector (i.e. IT) monopolizes the so few visas that are available. In fact, in the visa lottery, countries become excluded when the number of immigrants from them reach a certain point, so we are lucky they do not do that in the Employment-based system!
I think that by wanting to remove the per country limit so more Indians can avail of the green card quota is both asking for "special treatment" and a slap in the face for all the non-Indian IV members. The more I read the threads on this site, the more I feel that this organization is geared just to one ethnic group. I am sure that Indians probably make up the majority of members, but the founders of IV (I hope) did not want this organization to become one-sided! Please be considerate of ALL members and try to come up with suggestions that would benefit ALL members!!!:mad:

I do not think it would be 10,000 primary. Probably around 3000 ~ 5000 primary applications. But if you consider dependents yes we may be talking about nearly 10,000 EB2I visas.

A guy approached me in Walmart (he had nothing in his cart) and said - are you from india? Where do you work? Where do u live? What's you fone number.......all this happened in a matter of 2 mins. We has just moved to a new city and thought he is a nice guy and gave our phone number.............BIG MISTAKE....got a fone call 3 days later to talk about a business plan............OMG...worst hr of my life.
Then I met one couple in their 40s in IKEA and they said - I've see you before....it immediately struck to me and I said - Are you from quickstar............ROFL.
These ppl are a pain. Avoid Amway/Quixtar and any pyramid ponzi scheme.
People like these give desis a bad name. Ignore them.

Wow. Nice to see so many Bay area folks with bad experience. When i moved to Folsom, CA from Arizona in 2005 and knew no one at Folsom, I was in a Indian grocery store buying stuff and this guy comes to me and starts talking to me nicely.. At that point i did not know about this Amway Crap and infact stayed at the same apartment complex where i was staying. he invited me for tea and started talking about how to beocme your own boss etc.. Thats about it. I politely told him i am not interested and unfortuantely i gave him phone number at that time just to keep in touch and with the only reason not to be rude. He Kept on calling me 2-3 times in a week over two weeks and had to literally be very blunt and really rude to stop harassing me! Thats the end of it.
I met a person at Great Mall in the Bay area at Bath and Body works and i did not even give him a sec to start his pleasantires. He had a blank look on his face when i told him that if you are befriending me to join you about Amway, I will go to the Police right now that you are stalking me. He left me immediatly. :)

Why should we give big bucks to big names? Instead we can pay 50% to 75% of that to a bunch of fresh law school grads from Harvard or some other top law school and see what they can do?
This way we would help young talent and also give them a platform to get their name in the front and at the same time we are not under cutting on their fees. Saving money but cutting unnecessary cost is the name of the game.
Any thoughs or counter arguments?

that being said ..both sides are to be blamed ..SL and Tamil leaders in SL.

I've also been approached by Amway people both in the Bay Area and beyond. I despise their tactics and their deception as much as (or more than!) anyone.
But let's not let it affect our community. Let's not let a few bad apples ruin that unmistakable bond we feel in America when we spot a fellow desi from afar. Now, any time I approach a desi to make a friend, I state in a jovial-yet-serious way, "don't worry, I'm not one of those Amway guys!" That's obviously not the first thing I say, but I make sure to throw that line in during the first minute or so of the conversation. If the fellow desi knows Amway, it gets a laugh, "oh, phew, that's a relief!" Once at an IKEA, I saw a desi who seemed to be following me. Turned out he wasn't following me at all. I asked him in a clearly joking tone, "Please tell me you're not with Amway!" He burst out laughing and we became friends (needless to say, he was not with Amway!).
So why don't we all agree on a similar approach? If we meet each other in public, let's simply state that we're not with Amway. And if you're accosted, simply ask that person if they're affiliated with Amway. Plain and simple.

Try detaining any of their top Hollywood Heroes at an Indian airport for 2 hours and see how USA media and people will react to it.
You people have no respect for your own motherland and always think everything American is good than your own country. Learn to stand up for your motherland. Just because you want your greencard does not mean you forget your roots. Anti-Immigrants (read racists) of this country will still call you slumdogs even if you are a citizen of this country. But your own country people will never forget you and will accept you as their own even if you have lived here for 50 years.

However, this story has nothing to do about standing up for our own country/motherland. Every person who has a common name with terrorist names has had troubles at POE since 9/11. The TSA here in US treats everyone the same. Do you think ministers or celebrities in India follow any security procedures ?
