I don't think in any year EB2ROW has got 40K GC in the past, even when the economy was in good shape.
Does anyone has links for the annual GC issuance per country/per category for 2008. I missed the link.
The worst case scenario would be 20,000 max. That means EB2(I) will move to Mid or3 rd quarter of 2006 by end of 2010.

Our frustration with the US legal immigration and retrogression seems endless. My wife and I are considering immigration prospects to Canada. Can somebody please suggest good responsive lawfirms that could handle a Canadian PR application? We would also appreciate some insight on Canadian immigration prospects for physicians. Thanks
I did on my own. Its a time taking process but you can do it on your own. But if you can spend couple of thousand dollars for convenience then there are alot of law firms availble on internet. Just type in canada immigration lawfirm. You will find what you need.

There is no doubt Everyone knows that H1b and GC laws are crazy. For that we need to fight to change the law but should not encourage to violate the law. If USCIS violates law lawsuit should be filed. That is the rightway.
Isn't that the point what all anti-consulting folks are making here ? They want all existing laws (plus all laws they themselves created to satisfy their sadistic self) to be strictly followed. If that is the case snram4's relative should have been deported.
What many do not understand is H1B laws are insane and irrational. Many from our country doesn't have the guts to fight crazy laws. All they are good at is screwing their own fellow country men out of jealousy or selfishness.
Do all these folks follow law judiciously in their life ? I don't think so. Some of the folks here acting like bhagat singh came to this stage of life climbing over loads of corruption.

Nope. Article 1 Paragraph 3 just states that the convention does not apply in those cases. The definition of racial discrimination stands. You should read through the US response to the last review under the CERD (in 2003) and check the responses on immigration policy.
Do you have a specific link? There are a number of immigration related documents in the 2003 session, mostly related to the southern border.
I'm not a lawyer - but I do know that the spirit Article 1 Paragraph 2 of the document says that immigration and naturalization laws are somehow "not the same" as other laws when testing for racial discrimination. Well this is good news, at least there is a debate. Hopefully USCIS will go ahead without waiting for the FBI and go ahead and process the case, and not wait for the FBI.

Christ is god's son! He does not need a Green Card or any other color card :D So what is the point of making it 0?:p
Please do not spread rumors, can you please point me to the rule that says so? I did not see any Immigration law saying that God's Son doesn't need a Green Card. Christ wasn't born in USA, and neither were his parents US citizens, so his chance of US naturalization comes from a path through Green Card or Asylum. I dont think Christ had a 4 year degree (recognized by USCIS), so he does not qualify for GC based on EB1/2/3 categories. He could claim asylum though religious persecution, but then I am not sure if Christianity was recognized by USCIS during Christ's time :D

Somebody suggested earlier that we should all contact our lawyers , and ask why they have not filed lawsuits yet.
I think the reason for this is quite simple. Lawyers are happy with the current system, so that they can continue to charge money, consulting fees etc.
Do you guys really think lawyers care about it? They are happy charging $200 for a 15 minutes consultation.
I have nothing against the lawyers, they are running a business and need to maximize profit.

Just before any jumps on me :
I respect , like and love the United States. It has taught me a lot, given me a lot of respect and made me a much better person.
India is my country and I will get back there on some day. But I believe in a world without boundaries, and believe that political boundaries should not determine where/what I should do. That decision should be just made based on what/where I can be most productive/useful for myself and the society I live in. Hence I believe that USA/CA/India all are great nations/societies and we should respect them along with any other countries too.

I wouldn't worry too much about getting a job offer before getting there. In fact I would suggest take your time to relax/look for jobs/business opportunities when you get there. You will be a PR and will have plenty of opportunities if you are not in a field requiring a license. In fact, the best part about being a PR is the doors it opens. Consider whatever interests you and makes good money!

The VIP culture and the sense of entitlement in India is sickening :mad: I would understand if George Fernandes had raised a fuss since he was travelling as a diplomat, but SRK is pure dung!! FFS, he is there only to promote his movie - like some one mentioned here, the world doesnt come to an end if he is delayed by an hour or if the movie flops or doesnt even see the light of day.

All things being equal, there is no reason for him to get any special treatment at all -- he is no diplomat or a guest of this country. I've met couple of guys who came on L1 and have filed GC in EB1. they are simply project managers and exploited this loop hole... I'd raised this issue earlier but was scoffed stating that I would have done the same if I would have been at their place...Felt like slapping the guy who made this stupid comment.
Given that we have played by the rules, lets prevent any kind of fraud to make sure that there is FIFO.....

It seems most analysts here think that by Q4 2010 the approval of 485 could theorotically reach mid 2006 with a liberal allocation of spill-overs and a conservative estimate of abandonment etc.
My question is in order for CIS to have sufficient 485 cases to review .. will they not need to advance dates still further so they can start reviewing the apps and in 2-4 years time give those folks the GC.. I am specifically talking about all those who missed the July 2007 bus and whose priority date is after july 30, 07.... any hope for poor souls like us to at least file for EAD in 2010?Or is this wishful thinking?
Iam also one amongst this lot, as somebody told me be hopeful and cheerful, our day will come. I really understand your pain and suffering, we are kind of the worst affected lot (or atleast one of the worst affected), those who made it in Jul 07 atleast have interim relief. The extent of spillover will really determine our fortunes; I honestly believe that there is a 50-50 chance of it happening this year. Let�s wait for the experts in this group to analyze the data. Since in those days it used to take 2-3 months for labor approval we will have individuals from as early as May 07 who missed the Jul 07 bus, mine is in the last week of July. I hope we will be able to get in the bus and drive out this year!

instead of dividing those who have house and those who will buy if they get gc ..we should focus on more visas and faster approvals (maybe temporary green cards !!) ..no need for more divisions ..there will be congress session for second stimulus bill ..IS THERE any chance that we can push for recapture by telling the congress that 200K highly skilled immigrants are waiting for GC and after that most likely they will buy a house ???? (give a rough figure ..no one will verify the exact number) please think about this !!! lets have another campaign as soon as possible
