For 2007 we had an availability of 226,000 Family Based Visas. But the issued visas in 2007 in Family Based are 194,900 visas. That means there are 226,000 MINUS 194,900 = 31100. These 31,100
unused Family Based Visas have been made available for 2008 Employment Based Visas of 140,000. And USCIS has 28,795 unused VISAS of American Competitiveness in the 21st Century Act of 2000 (AC21).

It doesn't cost you anything to make promises, also people are used to being ditched by politicians, so they don't complaint. I never said that I'm disloyal to India or anything derogatory about India.
My statement "shame to hold Indian passport" is to express my resentment and to protest against the polices of the govt of India towards the Sri Lankan Tamil issue. I believe in freedom of expression and I have every right to protest what I deemed to be injustice.
I saying it again, in this country even burning of the national flag is considered a form of protest.
I'm expressing my feelings, if you or your so called "Tamil friends" are not matured enough to understand freedom expression and genuine protesting, I don't care and i don't owe any explanation to any one. Also I don't care what judgments other make about me.

You have to put your country before your race, color, ethnicity and religion. That is what I learnt as definition for citizenship. I have very good tamil friends and even showed your statement. I am glad that they just hate your personality and you are an atypical Indian tamil.

Consulting is not always a one month affair - all IT organizations need long term consulting on permanent basis from subject matter experts. If you have a US education or in the alternate the right qualifications you should have no problem getting a stable well paying job in Canada. Its similar to a Doctor coming to the US but not taking USMLE but still expecting to get hired at the same level they were in their home country. I know of non-American friends with US undergrad degrees in Toronto making $95k+. With the Canadian dollar having recently surpassed the US dollar, the value of their pay is even greater now than it was before. If the folks in notcanada.com swallowed their pride used their PR status to get their qualifications up to par with Canadian requirements they would not waste so much time complaining. Its akin to having a car, having the keys, knowing you need to go from A to B, but complaining about the rough road as your number one excuse for not getting there. Those stuck here in GC limbo are in a similar boat, they have the car, they don't mind the rough road, they know how to drive but simply don't have the keys to get in the car in the first place. Bottomline is if one can't make it in Canada it would be difficult for them to make it anywhere else except their home country and the US (where things are relatively easy hence the now disappearing "land of opportunity" as things get tough with the misguided bill)

My immigration lawyer laughed when I asked about a possibility of filing WOM to force action on my stalled I-485. So I proceeded myself. Yes, I did many mistakes but I ultimately prevailed. AILF lawyer and Assistant US Attorney could not believe that an ordinary programmer can write quality legal briefs and challenge the government. Some of my friends did not bother with WOM and are still waiting while others followed and received green cards. If you think outside of the box, you can achieve something others could not.

I think the folks who decided to file on their own are clearly the winners here because they have complete control over when the AOS gets filed. Folks like me who decided to go with the company law firm are clearly the biggest losers here because with all the added work load, the law firms are in complete disarray and can not guarantee anything about when the cases will be filed. The company law firm I am dealing with is in so much disarray that they have stopped taking phone calls and they wouldn’t even talk to me on the phone.
I have submitted all documents and filled out all their forms a while ago and I still haven't heard a word from them about whether they have received all the documents and when do they expect to file my case. Yet this is the law firm that probably charges 400 bucks an hour.
Like logiclife said, I wish I would have done it myself. Well .. too late now :(

I feel that this will be an excellent idea. Atleast some people will be eliminated from the queue. I believe there are lot of people waiting for their GC to buy a home. It will also benefit them.

My wife came to US on L2 visa. We applied for her H1 in April'07 and got selected in lottery :). She has been working since Apr - 07 with the same company first on EAD (from L2) and then on H1B. meanwhile we got lucky in July 08 and applied for 485 for both of us. We came back from India in Mid May using AP after one month vacation. ( we have EAD and AP). She stopped working 2 weeks after coming back and hasnot worked since. My quesion is
--- What is her current status ?
--- Can she start working on her EAD and abonden her H1B?
--- Will she be able to come back on H1B or H4 ( I also have H1B now)

Jayleno - me thinking sane is the reason you didn't hear from me in any malls/WM :) but I was a minority in BWW who believes in waiting till you find like minded people who are looking. cold contacting is just going against human instincts. you can't simply talk to a person about something to get his phone number and call them about this business next day. that is a reg flag right there. i couldn't do it and hence not with this business anymore. many of us are not ready to think about making millions in few short years. some people need to understand that you can't rub that idea with force on another human being.
in BWW terms, i was a quitter who can't take the business to the next level because I was afraid of rejection (getting a NO from prospects)..
