I got my PR, is there any way i can keep it current, looks like it will expire in 5years if you are not staying in Canada for more than 2 years, but some said there is a workarround.

If you have a US education or in the alternate the right qualifications you should have no problem getting a stable well paying job in Canada. Its similar to a Doctor coming to the US but not taking USMLE but still expecting to get hired at the same level they were in their home country. I know of non-American friends with US undergrad degrees in Toronto making $95k+. With the Canadian dollar having recently surpassed the US dollar, the value of their pay is even greater now than it was before. If the folks in notcanada.com swallowed their pride used their PR status to get their qualifications up to par with Canadian requirements they would not waste so much time complaining. Its akin to having a car, having the keys, knowing you need to go from A to B, but complaining about the rough road as your number one excuse for not getting there. Those stuck here in GC limbo are in a similar boat, they have the car, they don't mind the rough road, they know how to drive but simply don't have the keys to get in the car in the first place. Bottomline is if one can't make it in Canada it would be difficult for them to make it anywhere else except their home country and the US (where things are relatively easy hence the now disappearing "land of opportunity" as things get tough with the misguided bill)

You dont need any law-firm to handle your canadian PR application .. it is straight-forward enough that any educated applicant can do it himself.
I am no physician myself, but from what I hear foreign physicians in Canada have to go through the whole battery of licensing exams all over again. The going will be tough at least initially till you get all the relevant licenses. But I just do not know of that many physicians who immigrated to Canada.
Our frustration with the US legal immigration and retrogression seems endless. My wife and I are considering immigration prospects to Canada. Can somebody please suggest good responsive lawfirms that could handle a Canadian PR application? We would also appreciate some insight on Canadian immigration prospects for physicians. Thanks

We applied for canadian immigration in 2002 but didn't have to provide the IELTS results. Things might have changed since then.
I guess it all depend on the CO and how well you present your case in your application. If you provide enough evidence to show your fluency in the language they might accept them. But it's always a good idea to be prepared and do the test anyway. That was what I did.

Could you tell at 140 level does a candidate needs to submit all the previous
H1 Approval notices.
I couldnt submit my previous 140 approval notice since it was during 2000-2001. How important is the previous H1 B approval notices for a 140 approval ? . I submitted the current approval notice which is from 2006-2009

IV release has the following line. Looks like they are talking about H1B renewal. However, we will have EAD renewal. Any cost/benefit analysis for us/USCIS on H1B vs EAD renewal.

Good Things about IV
1. IV Core does not conduct its business in the forum. They learnt this lesson a long time ago.
2. All their work is done in the donor forum and behind the scenes by volunteers
3. If they feel that any idea is worth pursuing they invite that person (with the idea) behind the scenes and pursue that idea
4. All the work is done by IV members themselves because they are helping themselves
5. IV members are investing time and money to do work which impacts a large number of immigrants
6. That is a professional way to do stuff and i admire the way work is done at IV

1. IV always states about the lack of will of people to do something for themselves
2. IV always states that people just comment on forum but do not step forward to do stuff
3. IV always says that people do not donate enough and without donation a grassroot organization will not survive
What IV is doing wrong
1. IV talks about a holistic approach whereby the benefit to EB community will trickle down and once EB2 will become current EB3 will get benefit of spillover
2. IV is assuming EB2 will become current but with the number of indians coming to USA and number of indian students who will graduate from MS courses in USA over the next 5 years EB2I will always be backlogged
3. Plus we are not even talking about EB2 ROW and EB3ROW demand which could go up
4. Supporting the DV 55k bill to US educated GC applicants on the whole looks like a great plan. Sure here are 55k and here are about 150 k GC applicants. 150 - 50 IS 100 K. So if the bill passes we reduce the backlog by 50 k. Now i will am one of the person who will be getting a GC because i am US educated but my opposition to this bill is on principle
5. What IV has to realise is that it is not only IV members specifically but it is a whole lot of non IV members who are EB3 who have been a bigger person in this whole immigration retorgression advocacy scheme of things till now.
How let me explain. We have seen EB3 persons from 2002 who are still waiting for GC and who are not getting spill over visas because EB2 is using up all the spill over visas. So do you see any EB3 now complaining about the rule change supported by IV and made by USCIS whereby EB2 gets spill over visas. NO we do not see any EB3 complaining. That is because EB3 as a whole understands that that rule in the past being interpeted in a wrong way and the current way is the correct interpetation. Sure the old method gave EB3 some extra spill over visa benefit but the new interpetation caused EB3 to dry up compleletly. Now that in itself is against the very nature of self preservation by definition, But EB3 went along for the greater good
What IV can do right
1. Now we have this 55K DV Bill. This is something different from the spillover (which is law and cannot be changed). This is one time oppurtunity to alieviate the sufferings of EB group as a whole. So can IV which is supposed to be talking for the whole EB community do the right thing here and ensure (with advocacy they are so good at) that IV's stand is that 55K visa are given to all GC applicant from retrogressed countries based on oldest priority date first irrespective of EB2 and EB3.
2. The concequence of such a move is that long retrogressed EB applicants will get relief (Which is one of the point IV talks about in their charter)
3. Sure Many US educated applicants from EB2 and EB3 will oppose this move because lets face it, this move impacts their getting GC sooner. And if they behave like that they are in the same category as EB2 guys on this forum who do not entertain any idea which will impact their getting GC soon.
What wil happen if IV does the above
1. The DV 55K bill will NEVER pass in congress. This along with the other bills we have seen will bite the dust because no one in the current economic scenario would like to see more immigrants (US educated or not)

Even though enactment of the visa recapture and nursing relief bills within the 110th Congress was slim, the foreign professionals watched the webcast of the hearing yesterday with a tremendous despair, adjourning the hearing without taking up these immigration bills. Could you explain what is the Returning Resident Permit ? Who can apply for that ? Also are you suggesting that once you have that document, even after one's PR card expires, one can enter CA al long as the Returning Resident Permit is valid ?
Also I asked this question even before .... Can a person whose PR is going to expire or going to be more than 3 years old .... can a fresh PR application be filed ?

Upon getting my PR and landing in Canada, I got job offer in the beautiful US. I kept visiting Canada every month, I kept bank account active there, I bought a car in Canada and transferred to the US (that was silly, don't do that) etc just in case I needed to prove certain ties to Canada and it would be transfer car to Canada again if I needed to go back.
Then 1 year passed. I retained my PR just fine. However, when entering Canada, the immigration officer advised that I was going to end up losing my Canadian PR if I start going back and forth. At that point I applied for the Returning Resident permit. I wen to Canadian embassy in Seattle. Lady who attended me was very rude and told me that working in the US was not a valid excuse to stay out of Canada for 2 years. Then I claimed that I wanted to go back to Canada to open business there with my US experience within 2 years. Lady finally said "you guys don't love Canada, you just love the US". From there she signed the Returning Resident Permanent residency paper for 2 years. Now, five years have passed and I guess my Canadian PR status is unknown. I guess I could just return if I wanted. Last week I went there to visit a friend (it was raining like crazy in Vancouver, BC) and I entered the country without any questions. Therefore if you manage to get in, I guess all my PR status would still be valid.

I cannot believe there are 9 pages (and counting) worth of sentiments, because some lame talentless guy was subject to security checks at an International Airport. I'm someone who was born India, but never lived there - however I'd think there are incredibly talented Indians here in America and worldwide compared to someone who's used to blatant exploitation / sell out of Indian culture. Every response we give him makes him feel pleasure at our plight. To tell you the truth our plight is not bad. We just like to think it is. We have AC21 option. Remember when you could not file I485 how much you coveted that one option. If the employer withdraws I-140 and we have to file MTR so be it. People come out of it unscathed. It is still a low probability event. Take the bull by the horns and you will come out stronger. Even when you get your GC life's problems will not go away. We still have to fight for a better job, better pay, better quality of living and then we will not have the excuses we have now (Thats how Dilips of the USA are made).
So lets take pride in ourself, use our options wisely and ignore people like Dilip. He is just pampering him shattered pride by telling himself we cannot get the salary he wants due to H1b , outsourcing .... . He is not worth it.

you are right in Aug 2008 so many people wth PD of 2005 & 2006 got approved. I would have been a lucky one but unfortunately my Birth Certificate turned out to be the culprit and ended with with an RFE. By the time I answered the RFE visa # were exhausted and I was left behind.

you are right in Aug 2008 so many people wth PD of 2005 & 2006 got approved. I would have been a lucky one but unfortunately my Birth Certificate turned out to be the culprit and ended with with an RFE. By the time I answered the RFE visa # were exhausted and I was left behind.

I say this in the nicest way possible.
1. Instead of wasting time by answering here on the post, do something constructive for your own gc (whatever that may be).
2. If you do not believe in IV and what it does, you are truly wasting your time. Second, which IV provision do you not believe in - visa recapture? excluding dependents from being counted? removal of country caps? which one of these hurts your prospects of getting the gc?
3. Watching cspan definitely gives a person a better understanding of what is happening. No questions about it. But it is a passive exercise, as there is nothing you have done or can do or will do to change the outcome of what is happening.

Some one has to make it clear and by that i mean explicityly clear to you all that the fact is you people are not the only ones who can write eloquontly and articulate and idea. None hurt my prcopect instal All are good for my prospect but my simple statement is that nothing small has passed in congress so there is no gaurentee that anything big will pass so instead of hangng on to the same old ideas (We can all can go back to them when there is mommentum on it) it is time to think about new out of box ideas

To your question yes watching CPAN is a start, i agree a passive start but a start. I have some plans and ideas. I am sure it would be duplicates of what you intelligent people people have already talked about and maybe implemented in full. Now for me to talk about my ideas (which you ask because you doubt my intentions) i would say i also doubt you guys intentions.
