Really appreciate the update paskal. I tried to look for this all over the internet but could not find it. So I posted it. I am not on J visa, however, many of my friends are.

On Acceptance, your petitioner will receive the hardcopy (receipt notice) generally within 2-4 business days.
Check on the receipt notice, the amount and a text which says its filed in premium.

USCIS denied my and my family's 485 based on withdrawl of old pending 140.
How did you come to know about your denial. Did they send a denial notice after you applied for EAD. Was there any status change on the USCIS website after your 140 was revoked by employer.

This should nt have any impact on your wife's AOS application.
However, for peace of mind, you can have CBP corect the error. This is easily done by contacting the nearest CBP deferred inspection site. Go to https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/818/p/0/c/0"]https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/818/p/0/c/0[/URL to find contact information.

My PD June 2007, RD Oct 2007. No REFEs. EB1 India.
Thanks for all the help and good counsel.
Lesson from this experience: Learn to handle delays. Take things in your stride. Do not make GC as end of your life. We can work anywhere and be happy, though US is a preferred destination.
In this process, I made so many friends and learned to heed others views and good advice.
Will continue to work for IV.

I am currently working as Programmer Analyst for a company who is currently doing the GC. I have been with them for about 7 years.
Starting next month I am going to use my H1 7th year.
I am pondering about a new offer Firmware Engg. My GC detaisl are below:
PD: 06/2003 -- EB3
Education: MS
I am planning to stay in H1B, if possible with the new employer. But thinking of doing PERM and see if I can port my earlier date during I-140 filing.
Any suggestions or recommendations ...

With the recent implementation by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) allowing concurrent filing of Form I-360 Religious Worker Petition and Form I-485 Adjustment of Status Application, most applicants want to know what documents to submit with an adjustment of status (AOS) application.
Persons with a pending I-360 religious worker petition are now eligible to file an AOS application before September 9, 2009. The AOS application is used by persons who are in the United States to apply with USCIS to adjust to permanent resident status.
Along with the Adjustment of Status Application on Form I-485, one must remember to submit:
a copy of the I-360 receipt notice,
two passport style photos,
a copy of the applicant’s passport,
a copy of the applicant’s birth certificate (along with a certified English translation if the document is not in English), and
a medical examination report performed by a designated civil surgeon.
If an AOS applicant has ever been arrested then a court-certified copy of all arrest records and the final disposition of the case is required (excluding traffic tickets).
Individuals between the ages of 14-79 are also required to submit a Biographic Information Sheet on Form G-325A.
The most important thing to remember before sending the AOS application is the filing fee! Do NOT forget to submit a check or money order to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in the amount of $1010. I also would like to know an answer to this question. can I go to school once my 485 is pending for more than 180 days, provided I have 140 approved? If my 485 approval comes whle I am still in school, what would it mean in terms of any complications?

I'm not from India but I believe in Karma. We create our own future through our actions. If we perform a good action today we can expect a good result. That is why it is so important that the undecided people attend the rally!
Think of retrogression as Sansara. A vicious circle. It is only by acting and creating our own Karma that we will get out of Maya and see reality. Our gren cards will not fall from the sky, we have to go get them! By not going to Washington and assuming that your green card will suddenly appear out of nowhere, you are proving to yourself that you are stuck in some sort of immigration avidya.
We need to act with selflessness as in Karma Yoga, so that we can understand how our unity will bring the results we seek, to all of us.
Remember Arjuna when he realizes before the battle that his enemies are his own family. We at IV should not be our own enemies by not attending the rally, because we all know what Krishna told Arjuna: "Your duty is to fight"
Instead of hurting each other, we need to use karma and our friendship for each other to unite in our common cause and fight. Remember, our duty is to fight, it is our choice then to fight against each other (by not attending the rally and letting others do it) or fight all together, united against retrogression, and create the good Karma that will ultimately defeat the broken immigration system.
We all are family! Let's fight together friends!!! Come JOIN US IN DC!!!!

Some where I read that there is no fee for renewal of AP. I am a Jul 07 filer and am not sure about this. Further already applied last year for Advance parole and traveled once. it got expired last month. I am applying for a new one again. So just wanted to know if I need to pay the fees $305.
So my questions are:
Does July 07 filers need to send the cheque for $305 for AP renewal. (My I 485 Reciept Date is Aug 2007)
Should we also include Biometric fee of $80?
And how much time approx is it taking these days for AP?

One of my friend who just finished his masters and in process of getting his OPT in hand, also he is planning to file his H1B visa in 2010.
While his status in OPT he got an oppertunity to own a corporation, my questions to you all as follows.....
1. Can he own a coroporation while his status on OPT? I know one can own a corporation if his/her status is on H1B.
2. If he own corporation with his current status (OPT) and if he files his H1B in year 2010; what issue might he face?
3. Are there any legal obligations to own a corporation while his status on OPT? Or does he require to take any extra measures / precautions to own this coporation?
Note: He just wants own this company and not plan to do anything much to it until he settles down and he wanted utilize this oppertunity.

How will removing country limits help China, India and ROW.
Has someone done any calculations on visa date movement.
We should have some comparison on this because some of us from China against. I seen many ROW against.
Does it help only Indians or everyone by how much?
I see these calculations bringing Indians, Chinese and ROW together.
the truth is this.... some of the chinese are against removal of country limits becoz they do not care if it helps them..... they r simply opposed to removal of per country limits becoz they cannot see india getting any benefit..... its the age old chinese mindset which cannot be changed with numbers or calculations...... otherwise just think for u'rself...... if china is retrogressed as evident from monthly visa bulletin .... & removal of per country limits will create 1 queue for everyone..... then y would some of these chinese be opposed to the removal of per country limits.....
