Canada immigration is simple & straight forward.
No expensive lawyers are required or any lengthy procedures. Just self do. Also look at the currency rate of US and Canada almost same... Tax is a little high but medical is fully covered.
You need to fill forms,send all your education, papers etc and LO ! you are done and get PR Card. Some of my friends got it in less than 2 yrs.

I know what I am about to say will trigger a lot of reaction and some resentment, but it has to be said on behalf of those who are not Indian. I think the per country limit is to ensure that people of all nationalities and races have an equal opportunity to obtain a green card and to ensure that no one nationality, group, or even sector (i.e. IT) monopolizes the so few visas that are available. In fact, in the visa lottery, countries become excluded when the number of immigrants from them reach a certain point, so we are lucky they do not do that in the Employment-based system!
I think that by wanting to remove the per country limit so more Indians can avail of the green card quota is both asking for "special treatment" and a slap in the face for all the non-Indian IV members. The more I read the threads on this site, the more I feel that this organization is geared just to one ethnic group. I am sure that Indians probably make up the majority of members, but the founders of IV (I hope) did not want this organization to become one-sided! Please be considerate of ALL members and try to come up with suggestions that would benefit ALL members!!!:mad:

Earlier this year, when IV was pushing for 485 filing without visa numbers, it was not very comfortable for those who had already filed 485. In fact, some even cancelled their membership over that.
Some of us, who filed 485s years ago couldn't have felt good about that. In the end, the flower power campaign was done and worked, allowing 320K filers to join the 485 queue and those of us who we were floating merrily along, felt like we got hit with a tsunami.
Yet we, each and everyone of us has to learn to look at the bigger picture and not look for our individual goals to come first. When we look at the stated objectives of the organisation, everyone of us has something positive to gain from it and should contribute in our own way, just find something to add your little weight to the effort. That is the kind of spirit we need. The collective force of everyone(guided by the core leadership) is what gets things done.
In a way, it is about each individual taking some action to help himself/herself by helping the organisation. Whatever little you have done, think to yourself, if this action is multiplied by 25K what would be the outcome. Then you get a sense for our collective power.
If you gave $100, then 25K*100= $2.5 million. Now thats a warchest!
On the other hand, if all you have ever done is to come to this board and whine, then I sincerely doubt 25K people whining in private ever got a thing done. Now if 25K people were to whine to their congressman...................
If each of those 320K 485 filers in July/Aug were to add just 10 Bucks to IV, imagine the impact. One can only wish. Of course a greater burden falls on the shoulders of an enlightened few, but hopefully as more poeple find ways to contribute, things become stronger. I'm impressed by the success of the 30K funding drive.

The Family visas spill over is something I couldnt understand. They are retrogressed by > 10 years for many categories. Is that conflicting with spill over? Why would there be spill over with such backlog?

More than the money, these guys are plain stalkers! They don't leave you even if you are not interested and even after blindly telling them right on their face. Because of all these experiences, even when you genuinely smile or strike a conversation with a desi, he/she first suspects you to be an ammway guy. I face it everyday, being "outgoing extrovert" in nature, I tend to smile and talk to people in elevators, walkways, malls, restrooms, groceries etc... which is mostly casual fun stuff and most times desis suspect that I am a ammway guy and cut me out harshly.

Is unclear to me what the law is for those 2 cases
1) You are with the employer that sponsored I140 and you get GC.
2) You use AC21 and move to employer B and get you GC while at employer B.
In both cases more than 6 months have lapsed since the I485 filling
And the question is...:
Are you free, after getting the GC, to move to another company or you need to stay with current employer for a certain amount of time?
How would USCIS know if you moved?

So who cares if he is SRK or anyone for that matter. When Colin Powell was the chief of security under Bush administration he had to go through airport security just like any other common person. The TSA here in US treats everyone the same. Do you think ministers or celebrities in India follow any security procedures ? Every now and then you hear of ministers and celebrities involved in smuggling scandals.

Television channels estimated that 122 people died of shock on hearing the news of their leader's death in a horrific air crash on Thursday, or committed suicide unable to bear the loss. Most of those who died of shock were keenly following TV news channels ever since his chopper went missing early on Wednesday and then received the news of his death on Thursday.
NTV, a Telugu channel, reported that 122 people have died since Thursday morning when YSR's body was found. It said 99 people died of shock while 23 committed suicide.
However, there was no independent confirmation of this. The police here said they did not have any figures to confirm this report.
This is the first time in the state's history that such a large number of people have died over the death of any political leader.
YSR, as the late leader was popularly known, has surpassed in death the popularity of actor and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder NT Rama Rao who died in 1996.

The deaths were reported from 19 out of 23 districts in the state.

Who defines what "right" qualifications are? Will IIT Kanpur make the cut and not IIT Guwahati? In the US, especially Sillicon Valley the best people from all over the world come for work. People from the best colleges in their countries come to work in addition to people from "normal" colleges from their countries. Where does India's top colleges stand compared to the best colleges around the world? IITs according to some rankings are not even in the top 200 colleges. Does that mean we exclude them altogether? Where does that leave BITS Pilani? Stop harping on that qualifications theme. I know people from both Bombay University and IIT kanpur Eb2 2003 waiting still for their GCs in the same company and same department. Workwise both are similarly capable.

Based on this, I have again (yes, again) emailed by immigration lawyer and sent him the AILA's URL (although I cant see it coz I am not member of AILA).
IF AILA reports that they stopped accepting new 485 petitions for EB3-other, then it is pretty freaking scary and that means that what my lawyer told me "I cant happen, bla bla bla..." is really not 100% accurate. If it happened in June, it can happen in July. This is now REALLLLY SCARY, coz my lawyer has plans for July-end for filing.
Ever since the dates got current, it has been more stressful than the time when dates were retrogressed and almost makes me miss the retrogression days when I didnt have to depend on the lawyers for my career.
It is indeed scary...I guess rumors can come to haunt us...I know that mine is not going in before mid july...we are seeing that is visible but doesnt exist...May be august bulletin (like predicted by USCIS) will still be "C"....GOOD LUCK to all. If it happened in June, it can happen in July. This is now REALLLLY SCARY, coz my lawyer has plans for July-end for filing.
Ever since the dates got current, it has been more stressful than the time when dates were retrogressed and almost makes me miss the retrogression days when I didnt have to depend on the lawyers for my career.
It is indeed scary...I guess rumors can come to haunt us...I know that mine is not going in before mid july...we are seeing that is visible but doesnt exist...May be august bulletin (like predicted by USCIS) will still be "C"....GOOD LUCK to all. Irony of life is...all my life i gave exams in an effort to not get a "C"....and now all i pray for is just another "C"...
